Allofmp3 rocks. Not that I’ve ever used them myself, their selection never looked very good (but then I have yet to see an online music store with good selection). But they’ve been down for a few days. They’re back up now, but let’s look at some of the awesome factual reporting that other blogs did while they were down:
AllofMP3 Down – For Good?, followed by talk of recent investigations and blah blah blah.
Allof MP3 Down for Good? Is AllofMP3 down for good? Mmm, no wonder I could not log on this weekend. Damn you powers that be, I want my All of MP3!
Well, it looks the future of one of my favorite online music stores is in jeopardy. AllofMP3 is a website based in Russia that allows users to download music files without any DRM security for an average of $0.02 per megabyte. All good things must come to and end, but I was really hoping that this wouldn’t.
Looks like allofmp3.com – that funny Russian site that sold songs at a fraction of the cost of iTunes – is dead. These guys were taking advantage of a loophole in Russian Copyright Law, but apparently the powers that be have shut them down for good – one way or another. I’m not sad about it, as songs should be $0.25 anyway. (Huh?)
Last week I heard the Russian President on talking about his country and the “copyrite” thing. Two days ago, I logged on to alltunes and used up my funds except for 84 cents. Yesterday and today, I could no longer access the site. Say good-bye to allofmp3. Looks like the US pressure worked.
I hope it is shut down forever. Russia doesn’t pay royalties to the artist. It’s just napster with a cheap price with all of the proceeds going to the communists. It’s theft. Think beyond your wallets.
Last week when there was a few days when no new music was uploaded to the site I became suspicious that something was wrong and went on a final shopping spree of my remaining funds. If the site comes back up, only deposit enough funds to be used within hours.
Ok, now I’m bored.
